OC Couple Ask For On-screen Separation

The OC stars Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson have pleaded with the TV series' creator to keep their characters apart, fearing on-screen closeness could hinder their real-life romance. Brody's comic book-loving alter-ego Seth Cohen split with Bilson's character Summer Roberts at the end of series one last year, and both have been pursuing new relationships.

However, Brody and Bilson are worried their characters are heading for a reunion, so they've asked Josh Schwartz to steer the plot in an alternative direction, according to British newspaper the Daily Star.

Adam Brody scheint mit dem Charakter "Seth" einen neuen Trend zu kreieren, bzw. dem Typus des "nerd" seine verdiente Würdigung zu verschaffen:

A few weeks ago, I did a tribute to the nice guy. But I neglected to mention another group of underdog potentials - the nerds. Nerds come in every shape, size and color, and thanks to Hollywood, are making a huge rise in popularity. Having been a nerd since I was old enough to say "ewok," this rise makes me very, very happy. So I decided to devote this column to my top five nerds. But these aren't just nerds, folks. These are the nerds who made it, the ones who beat the jock and got the girl and the ones who give hope to every nerd out there.

Number four - Adam Brody - "The OC." While this generation of teen dramas started with "90210," Aaron Spelling ignored the nerd (Okay, there was Gabrielle Carteris, but she was phased out pretty quickly). Adam Brody has revolutionized the image of the comic book nerd by getting not one, but two really hot girls. Last week's episode was another geek's victory, when Summer gazed upon the little boy (who oddly resembled Seth) playing with a toy horse over a bunch of open comic books - thus realizing her love for him. She chooses Seth over the hunky water polo player Zack. Score one more for the nerds.
